Thank You From the Graduate

Thank You From the Graduate

A quick post: a very simple 4bar thank you card for those busy moms...

I stamped the graduation cap on black card stock with silver ink and outlined the cord in metallic golden sharpie.

Until next time....

Congrats!

Congrats!

After the tons of Graduation cards I made in the past few weeks, I still was looking for the perfect one for my daughter graduating from Davis on the 15th of this month.

I wanted something that would reflect her personality.

She is... like a flower.

So I put 4 of them, one for each year she was away in Davis, stamped with a Stamp Craft stamp, and colored the heart of the flower with a Copic Marker.

-302-

I then added a piece of Simplicity Class of 2012 silver Ribbon at the edge of the three windows.

The diploma is from Sparkle'n Sprinkle, the cap is a Michael's $1 stamp.

Congrats! is a Vap! Scrap stamp. I attached it to the top part of the card so when you open it, it reveals the UC Davis gold seal: I had some leftover from her graduation announcements... which makes me wonder where I messed up and not put those stickers.

Here is a close up:

A view of the inside: I just added a yellow card stock to remind of the yellow hearts of the flowers.

Here is another version of the same card, I replaced the yellow card stock by a silver one, and used a "stars' stamps from Anita's and a Congratulations sentiment from Stampin'up.

I couldn't resist but adding the "You're the Star of the Show! (from Annette Aden Watkins) on the inside flap.

Until next time...

We Are Proud Of You!

We are proud of you!

Just when I thought I was done with Graduation cards ideas, I remembered I had some black graduation tins from Scrap Yard 329 I hadn't yet used.

Well here they are!

Coupled with the usual cap and diploma I have been using on all the others cards, I thought it would be perfect when peeking through the little windows of the A Cut Above window card...

You can't really tell on the picture below but the black square is actually a tin cap and diploma.

 -288-

I used again those round sentiments from the site below:

http://rubberstamping.about.com/od/digitalstamps/tp/free-printable-sentiments.htm

And propped the sentiment, the diploma and the cap with a dimensional.

Until next time!

More Silver Graduation Cards

 MORE SILVER...
,,, Graduation Cards

As the graduation announcements are piling in my mail box, I realized I might need more Congratulations Graduate cards.

So this is what I did this afternoon.

Keeping with the silver and white spirit,
I came up with 4 more ideas. I think I might actually have enough cards, now.

 Idea #1:

-282-

I finally used this Cuttlebug embossing folder I own and never got out. I must admit, cutting the top right corner out is not my idea. I saw this on Pinterest, and the beautiful card comes from this blog:

http://flowersparkle.blogspot.com

Check it out!

The sentiments are also embossed with a Cuttlebug folder, and the diploma is a stamp from Sparkle'n Sprinkle.

The cap is from this wonderful $1 Michael's stamp set.

Idea #2:

-283-

Keeping with the same idea, I used a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder I just received: this one embosses two sets of two horizontal lines.

In the space between them I taped a silver ribbon.

The sentiment are embossed with those mini Cuttlebug embossing folders, and I added a diploma or cap with dimensionals.

Idea #3:

-284-

Not that much different from the last one, just a circular sentiment on top of a black card stock cut with a Lifestyle Craft Scalloped Circle.

Idea #4:

-285-

Embossing folders galore... there are the Cuttlebug with horizontal lines, this time set right in the middle, the mini Cuttlebug folders "simple shapes" for the silver flower and diamond, and the mini sentiment ones.

Until next time!

You Did It! Another Graduation Card.

 You did it!

Another Graduation Card

I guess the weather outside is putting me in the mood, we have May Grey or June  Gloom, your pick.

Hence, my graduation cards ideas are still flowing in.

I was keeping with the silver/black/ diploma/ round sentiment/ cap from the previous cards, but I added something new, that you might be able to see better on the detail picture below of the bottom left of the card.

I used a cuttlebug embossing folder for the top part of the card, and a mini folder to emboss the "You did it!".

-280-

I also scored two sets of double line on each side of this little sentiment.

The cap and the diploma are propped up with dimensionals.

Until next time!

I Hope Your Dreams Take You....

 I HOPE....
... your dreams take you...

I always loved this quote.

I used it for my son 18th birthday card but it is so versatile that it would be perfect for a graduation card.

I think the font I chose to print this quote is particularly adequate.
It is called Fontdinerdotcom Sparkly, and for me it is so close to what writing in a dream looks like.

Every so often, there are some little sparkly stars over the words and I chose to highlight them with one of those Stick stamps from Stamps by Judith.

The ink chosen is a very pale blue, which is not overpowering on the writing.

-276-

The dragonflies stamps were from Recollections.

I double scored the card under the quote and  rounded the bottom corners.

Until next time...

Graduation? Two more!

GRADUATION...
... two more.

I guess I wasn't done with my inspiration. I thought of two more of those graduation cards, this time, going back to basic.

Will that be it for now? Who knows....

-275-

I found this "Class of 2012" ribbon at Michael's. The brand is: Simplicity.com

I am not sure where this designer paper comes from though...

Until next time...

Graduation Stair Steps Cards

GRADUATION...
... stair step cards.

Yep, one more idea! Am I full of those or what?

I had that stack of "Stair steps" cards gathering spider webs, and since I am in the mood for graduation cards, I decided to couple the two, "Graduation Stair Steps Cards" was born.

Nothing new in the stamps used... by now, you are beginning to know those....

I went silver and black for the color scheme, instead of the red and black from our High School colors.

-274-

Until next time!

Congratulations on your Graduation

CONGRATULATIONS...
... on your Graduation.

Looking at ordering graduation announcements for my daughter made me think that June will be here in no-time.

That is all I needed to get back in graduation card mood.

I found that wonderful site on line with round sentiments for any occasion. The advantage is that you can crop them to desired size.

Check out the site below:

http://rubberstamping.about.com/od/greetingscards/ig/Birthday-Sentiments/

Here are three of them:

And the three graduation cards I came up with.

 -273-

By now, you should be used to the stamps sets I have been using over and over in the past postings. Just one new stamp, these flying caps...without a name of course...

Until next time...

CONGRATS

CONGRATS!

YES... another graduation card... how timely!

No, really, aren't we all surfing the net in search for THE one, the exceptionally clever and never done before graduation card?

Well, good luck... they have all been done before, believe me.

But, that doesn't prevent you to look again, soak in all those ideas, and come up with something a little newer, a little less done.

Below is the one I designed last night.... I know, I know, you've seen some like that before.

But this one is mine.

Yep! One of those flip-card! In the landscape position I chose to make this one, it is not that easy to display.

But here is one side:

... and here is the other side.

I left a lot of white there so you can write a little something to the graduate.

-272-

I bought those flip card from A Cut Above: they had a display at the Anaheim scrapbook fair last month.

The red card stock is from paperandmore.com. I run it through a Cuttlebug embossing folder for the framed part and left it plain in the middle square.

The "CONGRATS" sentiment is one of those $1 stamp Michael's used to carry... I cannot find them anymore.

All the other stamped images (the cap, the diploma and the "So very proud of you") are also a $1 set.

Until next time...

Yet again... More Graduation Cards

YET AGAIN....

... more ideas on graduation cards.

I guess I never get enough of those.

Red and Black are our high school colors, so most of my ideas come in those two colors. Don't they go together beautifully?

For a change, I rounded the corners of the cards....

-255-

I am still using that $1 Michael's stamp set. I cut out the stamped images and used foam stickers to prop them up a little.

The two sentiments are printed on my computer.

I found the circular sentiment at:

Until next time.

Graduation... a last hick-up....

GRADUATION...

... a last hick-up.

Well just for this week at least. I can't say the Graduation virus won't strike again but for now, this is it.

Two more little simple cards, with popped up graduation classics (a cap and a diploma), inside a circular sentiment, you can download below:

http://rubberstamping.about.com/od/greetingscards/ig/Birthday-Sentiments/

It doesn't get any simpler than that.

I chose silver and black, but this card could be customized to any high school or college colors.

Looking at the pictures below, I just realized I forgot to highlight the tassel and the cord on the diploma in gold... just close your eyes and imagine.

-249-

I am still using that $1 stamp set, my favorite when we talk graduation.

Until next time...

Graduation... again?

GRADUATION....

...again???? Well, when I get inspired, I just ride the wave...

Two words were blinking in my mind: Graduation and Simple... Below is the result.

Two very simple graduation cards, made in mere minutes...

-248-

I used one of those $1 stamp set in metallic ink on black card-stock.

I doodled the path of the soaring cape with a black marker.

I also stamped the same cap stamp in black ink under, on the white card-stock and use a metallic gold Pentel to highlight the tassel.

The black cap was propped with a dimensional.

Until next time...

So Very Proud of You

GRADUATION...

... come Spring, it seems to be in everybody's mind.

Our High School colors are red and black and it is very difficult for me to think of any other colors when designing one.

Now that I think about it, since my daughter is graduating from Davis in less than 4 months, I should may be thinking Blue and Gold...

-242-

The graduation cap is actually a petal card, and you can find the template all over in the internet.

The sentiment is printed not stamped, and the red card stock is a glossy red I found at Kelly Paper.

I always follow Dawn Olchefske (Stampin up demonstrator) directions for the tassel.

You can find a tutorial at the site below.  Dawn is wonderful with directions... as well as finding delightful ideas:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_IxakbDJpg&feature=player_embedded

I run out of Gros Grain ribbon (the best to make tassel this way) and used very slim ribbon  and a square brad.

Until next time....

Graduation: Congrats Grad

GRADUATION....
... you know what is better than graduation itself? Planning it!

Top of the list? Making the invitation. Here is my son graduation party invitation. Kids are sometimes funny and my son didn't want a party, we settled for a mini party, a lunch for the wonderful families whose sons have been like brothers to mine for the past 6 years.

I received a lot of e-mails asking me for directions both for the invitation, the money holder card and the Cap Graduation card below.

Here they are...

The card-stocks I used for the invitation was glossy black and red, from Kelly Paper. I cut them at 1/4 inches difference in size all around, and use mini brads to attach the white card stock, a linen from Kelly paper too.

In the back of the red paper I cut two slits to allow the ribbon to stay put. I found the Graduation Cap brads at the eyeletoutlet.com. They have every single kind of brads under the sun. Just ask! The trickier part was to get the ribbon tight enough (and not too much) when attaching the brad.

The money holder graduation card is built following the same directions, except that I added a small 2 inches panel at the bottom to hold a check. I used the same mini brads to secure it.

The quote I chose is my favorite from Dr. Seuss:

"And will you succeed? Yes indeed, yes indeed! Ninety eight, and three quarters percent guaranteed!"

Now for the graduation card...

Posted by Picasa-1-

I lifted this wonderful idea from my favorite Stampin' Up demonstrator.... with the tricky last name: Dawn Olchefske. She is the one I always go to for ideas and techniques.

Making tassel her way is by far the most innovative and give the best results...

Do check her tutorials: they are wonderful and so easy to follow. I will let her explain how to do this card:

Shoot for the Moon

Shoot for the Moon

A simpler version of the card on post 36. No matting, no score lines.

Just a simple stamping with coloring of the star.
