Father's Day Bendy Card

This is another cutting file from Bird (cardsbybirds.com); the card is pretty easy to assemble once your silhouette cuts all the 3 parts, the card itself, the front of it and the little stars.

It stands on its own once it is folded.

The size of the card is smaller than an A2, but since I wasn't mailing it, I didn't bother altering the size.

I think it is pretty cute!

All Star Dad

All Star Dad

A Converse sneaker card, dirty on the sole because you know they never stay clean more than 2 minutes... I found this wonderful idea on the scrapbook snippets blog (http://scrapbooksnippets.blogspot.com/), and adapted it to  a father's day card.

I just loved that idea...

The grommets for the shoe laces are made in paper, and I added some 3D crystal Lacquer to make them look metallic. I had some problems finding a way of writing in circle with my apple page program... after a frustrating long time spent in front of my computer, I decided to use sticky letters, and that was that.

I then thought I own a wonderful Silhouette Cameo, with a load of tutorial on line, and I used it to write a circular "all star" message. it works beautifully.

I use my Faber-Castell PITT artist white pen to draw the  stitchings.

Father's Day Submarine

Father's Day Submarine

For the lucky ladies who have a ex-subamriner as the dad of their children...

And when I say lucky, I am thinking of the way those husbands are good at making their bed, boot camp style. My, I have to say it doesn't compare... 

How about the way they pack suitcases? I would never had known that rolling t-shirts save room and allow them to arrive wrinkle free.

And for those deserving husbands, I thought of making a father's day card they not only would appreciate but that will bring back those fond memories of service. Because you do know that those happy memories are the only ones left when they think of those 6 wonderful years...

I adapted a card I made last year for mine, post 304, "Father's Day Card for a Diver:

Here is this year's card, pretty much the same...

the blue card stock is run through my cuttlebug in a Provocraft bubble embossing folder, I tore some vellum, and added two clouds punched with my Fiskars favorite punches.

The submarine is made with my cricut, "Life's a Beach" cartridge and I added some white behind the windows... oops, I am in trouble, don't let my husband know I am calling those "windows"... Crime de Lese Majeste, as we French say....

I had a peculiar request from a client (actually it was a wonderful request since it makes me work my neurons...)

She needed a retirement card for a person who likes fly fishing and tennis...

I tried to incorporate both of those in the stair step card below....

(By the way those easel card are easy to make.. I am adding a template below...)

The racket and tennis ball are from clipart, and I just cut up a fly from an image on the web. Now, for the net... that was tricky but I had a potatoes bag net laying around and I pulled it between two bands of card stock, horizontally first and them vertically.

The sign is printed and them cut with my cuttlebug.

I used 3 D foam thoroughly.

Since we are so close to Father's day, I  used the same element to make a tennis father's day card, and will post later a fly fishing father's day card...

Here is the easel card template: for a A2 card; dark line is a cut line, dotted line a scored line....You can move the 2 inch folding line to 2 !/4: it will give you a bigger flap in the front...

Here is my version of it: I run the top panel in an embossing folder, and added a sentiment on top of  the belt. Now this picture doesn't show the tag I added on the side of the pocket... I'll try to upload a better picture later.

I used a Silhouette cutting file found on Bird's blog (birdscards.com)... if you haven't visited this blog, run to check it out. This lady is posting new cutting files everyday, and they are incredible. From place cards to deep edge cards, if you own a Silhouette Cameo, this is a mine of ideas.

My husband was sweet enough to make me a few hangers from paper clips, and there you go!

This is Mark Twain's view on Dads, and it is so just on, that I couldn't help but make a card with it.

I was reading this to my husband and he said: "...so true."

Not that much to say about the card, except that the font I chose is Worstveld sling extra oblique and I added a little bit of copic marker coloring in the words....

... for a Diver.

Yes, we have one of those in our home! 

Since I made a Birthday Card for my son (cf post 210) with a diver, and a shark, I already had an idea of what I wanted to do.

Pretty much the same, minus the shark... 

I run a blue card stock through my cuttlebug in a Bubble Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, and added a piece of torn vellum to make the sky.

The Papertrey ink sentiment is printed on a cloud made with a Fiskars cloud punch.

I added some 3D paint to make the bubbles.

Father's Day sailboat

Father's Day Sailboat.

As i was looking for a sailboat sticker in my stack for the previous card, I fell upon this embellishment I had for age but never used because I was waiting for the right occasion.

Well, today is the day! 

Another father's day card with a sailboat, but this clipper had to steel the focal point.

Nothing should take away from the majesty of this piece.

How about making her sail on one of the seven seas and catching a snapshot?

On a sky blue background, I torn the outlines of the waves out, and added half a lone cloud to counterbalance my one masted schooner.

Can you believe that Father's day is just around the corner? 

As much as Mother's day card came naturally to me (flowers, flowers and more flowers..), it was very hard to think of something to case for a Dad.

Until now. 

I was checking a blog in Swedish (nope, I am not fluent in Swedish BUT there is at the top of the blog a very useful "google translate" application that works beautifully.)

Anyhow, pictures need no translation.

I (almost) had a blast rolling this cotton thread around a ring made with 

two Nestabilities circles. It took forever, but I like the results.

I added a Jolee sailboat sticker, and cut out some waves in a blue card stock with a scalloped circle punch.

 I also added half a cloud made with my Fiskars cloud punch, with a small sun behind.

The sentiment was printed beforehand. The font is called Architect.

Father's Day Tuxedo

Between you and me, that would be the day... the father in our family must have worn a tuxedo, twice in his life and each time, it was a painful experience to get him to wear one.

Et pourtant...
he looks so good in one.

 I didn't quite follow the directions from the blog, since I didn't want my card to open the way it does there.

 I just made it a regular A2 card with a tuxedo on the front part.

The black card stock is a glossy one from Kelly paper, as well as the red one.

 The shirt is in linen.

I used a ribbon from Michaels for the bow tie.

The grass is made out of tissue torn and glue down loosely. I used black puffy paint for the hole, and drew a pole with black marker.

The flag is just a red card stock triangle...

The sentiment was printed before assembling the card.

Father's Day Tie

FATHER'S DAY...
... tie.

As much as flowers is part of mother's day, ties are part of father's day. The only difference is that you really have to look for an ugly flower... on the other side, for ties....

This is why I thought this "sentiment" was perfect.

I printed the sentiment beforehand. It took a few try to find the perfect font, to carry as much irony and sarcasm a paper tie can hold.

The only thing left to do was to slit a 1 inch cut at the top and fold the card stock to imitate the collar of the shirt.
